Pre-Kindergarten
in Regina Public Schools
Applications for Pre-Kindergarten are being accepted for the 2022-2023 school year!

OUR MISSION

Regina Public Schools’ mission is to instil the value of knowledge, the dignity of effort and the worth of the individual. Our school community is united and this mission is exemplified in four Shared Values statements: I belong; I want to know; I am responsible; and I respect. These values give direction to what we teach both inside and outside the classroom. Our Shared Values transcend our differences and provide an equal opportunity to recognize and encourage the unique characteristics and contributions of students, parents/caregivers and staff.

OUR PRE-KINDERGARTEN PROGRAM

Children between at least three years of age as of date of application and four years of age as of December 31, 2022 may apply for Pre-Kindergarten in Regina Public Schools for the 2022-2023 school year.
Our Pre-Kindergarten program is a developmentally appropriate early childhood education program for three- and four-year-old children. Space is limited and children who would benefit most from enhanced programming and meet eligibility criteria, based upon Saskatchewan Ministry of Education guidelines, are prioritized for enrolment.
The half-day program, which runs Monday through Thursday, has a qualified teacher and teacher associate who provide play and exploration based programming for up to 16 children. Programming is child centred, self directed, and focused on holistic child development: social emotional, physical, intellectual and spiritual.
Family engagement is an important part of the Pre-Kindergarten program. Through active involvement in the Pre-Kindergarten program, parents/caregivers enhance their parenting skills and share responsibility for the well-being and education of their children.
Regina Public Schools offers Pre-Kindergarten in English in 23 of its elementary schools. Each program follows a specific curriculum as set forth by the Saskatchewan Ministry of Education.
