OUR MISSION
Regina Public Schools’ mission is to instil the value of knowledge, the dignity of effort and the worth of the individual. Our school community is united and this mission is exemplified in four Shared Values statements: I belong; I want to know; I am responsible; and I respect. These values give direction to what we teach both inside and outside the classroom. Our Shared Values transcend our differences and provide an equal opportunity to recognize and encourage the unique characteristics and contributions of students, parents/caregivers and staff.
OUR KINDERGARTEN PROGRAM
Children 5 years of age as of December 31, 2022 may register for Kindergarten in Regina Public Schools for the 2022-2023 school year.
Our Kindergarten program builds on early learning principles, paying particular attention to the environment and the roles of conversations and play in children's learning experiences.
The full-day program, which runs Monday, Wednesday and selected Fridays or Tuesday, Thursday and selected Fridays, has a qualified teacher. Programming is designed to facilitate inquiry through children’s play. Environments are carefully designed to inspire children to wonder, ask questions, and be curious; promote the holistic nature of children’s learning; and encourage independence, responsibility and participation.
Regina Public Schools offers Kindergarten in both English and French. Each program follows a language-specific curriculum as set forth by the Saskatchewan Ministry of Education. Regina Public Schools hosts a Kindergarten program in all of its elementary schools.
