Before and After School Program

BOOTHILL COMMUNITY ASSOCIATION  BEFORE/AFTER SCHOOL PROGRAM

INFORMATION FOR PARENTS & GUARDIANS

Our Purpose:  The purpose of the Before/After School Program is to provide affordable, quality care, activities and supervision for children attending Douglas Park School. The Program will be available from 7:30 a.m. to 8:37 a.m. and from 3:37 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. daily on regular school days.

The program is offered to children in Grade 1 through Grade 6.

Our Location:  The program operates at Douglas Park School, in the Community Room.

Our Schedule:  Children can be dropped off no earlier than 7:30 a.m. and picked up no later than 5:30 p.m. (There is a $10.00 charge for late pick-ups).

The Program is not provided on Professional Development days, Staff Meeting days, Three-Way Conference days and school holidays. On ‘early dismissal’ days, which occur on the last day of school before Christmas break and the last day of school in June, only the morning program will be provided, as the students are dismissed at 2:30 p.m.

Our Activities:  Our activities include board games, puzzles, coloring, LEGO, games in the gym, crafts, movie day and outside play. If desired, children may bring their own snack for the morning. An afternoon snack is provided by the program every day, consisting of fruit or vegetables, cookies or crackers or popcorn. There is no additional charge for afternoon snack or craft materials.

Our Expectations:  Children in the program are responsible for bringing their own belongings and shoes from their lockers/classrooms to the program at the end of the day. The program has no access to the rest of the school after the final bell rings.

Children will be expected to treat supervisors and fellow students with respect and kindness. Children are expected to sit quietly during attendance and snack time. During our activities children can use ‘inside’ voices.

Parents will be notified if behavior becomes an issue, otherwise situations will be handled internally. If inappropriate behavior persists, we may contact parents to have the child take a 3 day ‘time out’ from the program. Continued inappropriate behavior will result in a 1 week ‘time out’, followed by DISMISSAL from the program. If a child‘s behavior puts other children at risk he/she will be removed immediately. In addition, abuse of any kind from children or parent/guardians will not be tolerated. Anything of an abusive nature will be referred to the Boot Hill Community Association Board and decisive action will be taken.

Our Payment Schedule:  Parents are required to provide post-dated cheques for the 10 months of the program ($190.00 for the first child per month and $140.00 for each additional sibling per month, up to a total of three children). Program fees are set by the Boot Hill Community Association board and may be subject to changes. Receipts are issued once a year, in February, for Income Tax purposes. Please note that the Bank charges the Community Association a $20.00 bank fee for every returned cheque. It is the responsibility of the person who issues the cheque to provide this additional fee.

PLEASE PROVIDE 30 DAYS WRITTEN NOTICE IF YOU NO LONGER REQUIRE CARE FOR YOUR CHILD/REN.

NOTE: We are a NUT FREE ENVIRONMENT and have children with severe allergies.

For further information, please contact the Boot Hill Community Association at boothillprogram@gmail.com or log in to Facebook and post a private message under the Boot Hill Community Association page.
