
Wednesday, May 1, 2013 Dear Parents and Guardians: Spring is finally here! Our class has a very busy two months ahead of us. We have two Reading Logs left to collect. One on the eigth of May and the last on the twenty second of May. We will be going on our Dirt HIlls trip on May 10, weather permitting. Please return the permission slip as soon as possible. On the 23rd of May we will be swimming at the U of R, during the afternoon. Again, please return the permission slip, consent form and fees as soon as possible. This month, in Literacy, we will be working on speeches. The grade eights will be preparing for the Farewell with three topic choices: Address to Students, Thank You to Parents and Thank You to Teachers. The grade sevens will be allowed to have a topic of their choice. On the 27th of May. a parent letter will be going home regarding the final plans for the grade eight Farewell. Friday, March 1, 2013 Dear Parents and Guardians: March is upon us! On Tuesday, March 5 we will be having our second parent Farewell planning meeting from 7:00 - 8:00 p.m. in the Media Centre. Please join us. There is no school for students on Thursday, March 7 or Friday, March 8 due to professional development and the teachers' convention. Report cards will be distributed on Friday, March 15. And, conferences will be held on Friday, March 22. Our eleventh Reading Log is due on Wed., March 6 and the next one after that is due Wed., March 20. Spring will be here before we know it. Take care, Kim Klumpp
Monday, February 11, 2013 Dear Parents and Guardians: February is proving to be busy. Tomorrow night from 7:00 - 8:00p.m. we will have our first Farewell planning meeting. We look forward to seeing you. If you are not able to attend this meeting, a second one is scheduled for Tuesday, March 5 from 7:00 - 8:00p.m. The grade eight's will have an orientation tour of Balfour on Wed., Feb. 13. The grade eight pitcures will be taken on Tuesday, Feb. 26. Thank you to Murray Rosin from Cornerstone Photography for doing this. Our Reading Logs continue to be due every second Wednesday.. The next one is due Wed., Feb. 20. At this time, we are working on Ted Harrison copycat art, poetry anthologies and famous Scientist research. I wish you all a restful Family Day. Friday, January 4, 2013 Happy New Year! We are looking forward to a busy January and February. On Tues., Jan. 8, I will be sending home a permission slip for skating on Jan. 29 and Feb. 14. The cost is $4.50 Pleasse return by Jan. 24. On Wed., Jan. 10, I will be sending home a permission slip and consent form for a Snowshoeing Expedition on Feb. 1. The cost is also $4.50 and I would also like the forms and fees back by Jan. 24. The grade 8's will have their immunizations during the afternoon of Jan. 14. Two Reading Logs are due in January. One on Jan. 9 and one on Jan. 23. In early February, we will have our first meeting regarding the Grade Eight Farewell, which will be held on Thursday, June 20 at 6:00p.m. Please look for more information which will be coming home soon. Friday, November 9, 2012 Dear Parents and Guardians: November will be very busy for the grade 7 and 8's. On Tuesday, November 13th, we are going to Balfour for the production of "Once Upon a Mattress." Our fourth Reading Log is due Nov. 21st. We are going swimming at the U of R on Fri., Nov. 23. Please return your permission form, waiver and $3.50 as soon as possible. We have a Survival presentation on Nov. 27 from Doug Gibson of Outdoor Ed. And, we will be working on goal setting as we prepare for the distribution of report cards on Fri., Nov. 30. I wish you all a peaceful Remembrance Day weekend. I am asking that you assist me by encouraging, and initialing, the time your child spends reading. The first log is due Wed., Oct. 10, 2012 and every two weeks on the Wednesday after that.
